Picture a peptide as a short chain of tiny linked parts, in the description checked September 26, 2026. Longer chains of those parts make the body’s proteins. The word peptide supplies no verdict on legality, nor does it establish that a product is safe. The Food and Drug Administration is the federal medicine regulator, often called FDA. The record checked September 26, 2026 lists FDA-approved semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy). It also lists tirzepatide (Mounjaro, Zepbound) among approved medicines. Ask them to name the proposed medicine and the health problem behind the proposal. A broad offer of “peptide care” leaves those points open. A particular person’s needs can call for a specially prepared medicine. That preparation, by a pharmacist or doctor, is called compounding. It differs from supplying a factory-made approved product. The compounded product has not gone through FDA approval. The record dated September 26, 2026 makes a further point. Before marketing, FDA does not review a compounded product for quality, safety or ability to work. ### Keep in mind Ask about the product itself. Do not let the word peptide stand in for its name, its purpose or its evidence. ## How to check a Florida care service Get the names needed for the public searches. The Florida record dated September 28, 2026 points to the Department of Health search. It shows licenses, profiles and public discipline for health professionals and pharmacies. Have the person assessing you supply their name, license number and professional role. Match those details to the record. A physician assistant or nurse practitioner has a different role from a doctor. Ask who is in charge of the proposed care. ### The public license record Use the practitioner search for the person and the establishment search for the pharmacy. The Florida information checked September 28, 2026 describes public discipline as actions such as fines or restrictions on practice. Read the license status and any such actions. A matching name alone is not enough. The law checked September 28, 2026 generally requires an out-of-state professional to register, unless already licensed or otherwise authorized here. There are narrow exceptions for emergencies and consultations. The Florida record dated September 28, 2026 also sets a website duty for registered out-of-state professionals. Their websites must link to the Department of Health’s details about these registered care professionals, including their license and disciplinary history. Telehealth means a health conversation through a screen, phone or other remote exchange. Before it begins, list the help you want, the medicines or supplements you take and any past reactions. Write down your questions about the treatment too. Ask how the doctor, nurse practitioner or physician assistant assessing you will get more detail if needed. These care professionals are also called clinicians. The Florida law checked September 28, 2026 holds remote care to the standard of care in a room. It also holds the written medical record to the same standard. Under Florida’s general telehealth law, a remote assessment can be enough to diagnose and treat without an earlier physical exam or a search of past records. That is the broad rule checked September 26, 2026. For weight-loss care, read the separate requirements next. For weight-loss care, a separate Florida rule calls for a physical and full history, tests related to treatment and informed consent, meaning agreement after the care is discussed. The rule checked September 26, 2026 also requires re-evaluation at least every 3 months. It does not say care must happen in person. That rule reaches medicines and other treatments used for weight loss with medical help. Ask how the assessment meets the rules for your care. The broad law on remote visits does not settle each treatment’s needs. The Federation of State Medical Boards issued guidance adopted in May 2026. In that guidance, menu choices alone do not replace an assessment. The person seeking care must also be able to ask the doctor or other care professional questions after giving their initial health information. That group speaks for state medical boards; its guidance is not Florida law. Ask what happens if a remote talk leaves a need for an exam or test. ## Who supplies the medicine Get the pharmacy’s name before the payment terms are settled. The Florida law, checked again November 3, 2026, requires an online pharmacy with no other Florida pharmacy license or permit to hold an Internet pharmacy permit before it sells prescribed drugs to people here. For sterile compounded medicine, which is free of living germs, sent into Florida, the law checked September 28, 2026 adds a permit duty. A pharmacy based outside Florida, or an outsourcing facility there, needs an extra Florida permit to send this kind of medicine here. It is called a nonresident sterile compounding permit. A pharmacy license alone does not replace it. An outsourcing facility is a registered site that makes batches of compounded drugs. Ask the pharmacy which permit it needs and how to find that permit in the public record. Registration with FDA gives no approval to a batch-making facility or its drugs. This is the distinction in the federal record checked September 26, 2026. ### Keep in mind A named clinician, a named pharmacy and a plan for later questions give you something concrete to check.
